The NPD report noted Anthem as the second best-selling game of 2019 and it holds the second highest launch month sales ever for a BioWare game, following 2012’s Mass Effect 3.

Jump Force, the anime mash-up fighting game, debuted at number two. Its launch month sales are the third highest ever for a Bandai Namco game. Kingdom Hearts III, which was January 2019's best-selling game, held tight at third and remains the best-selling game of 2019. It’s also the fastest selling game in Kingdom Hearts history, beating out Kingdom Hearts II’s two-month sales by over 80 percent.

Far Cry New Dawn came in at fourth place, Red Dead Redemption 2 in fifth, the Resident Evil 2 remake in sixth and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in seventh. Metro: Exodus came in as the eighth best-selling game of February 2019, setting a franchise record and beating Metro: Last Light’s launch month sales by nearly 50 percent. Overall, dollar sales of tracked game software totaled $457 million for the month, up 15 percent from last year.

Here are the top ten best-selling games for February 2019:

Though software sales were up, hardware sales declined 12 percent when compared to a year ago. However, Nintendo generated its highest February hardware dollar sales since 2011, and Nintendo Switch is the best-selling console for both February and 2019 as a whole.

In our review of Anthem, we called the game “Okay” saying "it saves too much of what precious little content it has for the endgame, making playing through its mismatched story a tediously repetitive grind."

In our review of Jump Force, we called the game “Okay” saying "Jump Force is all flash and little substance. Even with a roster of 40 beloved characters, it fails to stick the landing."

Kingdom Hearts 3 and Resident Evil 2 topped the January 2019 NPD while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Red Dead Redemption 2 beat out the competition in December 2018.
