Battlefield V's Grand Operations Will Be Available At Launch
1 hour ago
Not every game mode was originally scheduled to make its way into the release of Battlefield V will be available at launch. In fact, some of the game modes were only going to be available as post-launch content. This could have made some gamers peeved, as they probably expected every game mode and every feature to be available on launch day. But thankfully EA and DICE came out of the trench to reaffirm that the information that was originally published about the delay of the Grand Operations mode was incorrect, and the mode will actually be available for all Battlefield V purchasers when the game launches.
Over on the official Battlefield V website, there's an update from the team explaining that the Grand Operations mode will be available when the game launches on October 19th for the Xbox One, PS4, PC. In the post that was updated on July 27th, 2018, David Sirland, the multiplayer producer at DICE, explained:
A previous version of this article stated that Battlefield V Grand Operations would be available shortly after launch, based on development plans as of June 9, the date the story published. The article has been updated to reflect that Grand Operations will be playable at launch and as part of Tides of War.
This is a clarification to what was originally posted by the developers back on June 9th, when DICE revealed more details about the modes and gameplay content in Battlefield V in light of the EA Play event happening over the E3 weekend.
The article had stated that the Grand Operations mode would not be available for home console and Origin users when the game launches this fall. The mode was going to be delayed by a small bit during its launch window, with the delay pushing the mode back by a small amount.
With the clarification in place it means that the mode will be available at launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC gamers when the game drops in October.
Grand Operations features a series of challenges across a multi-operational front on various stages. The Grand Operations is an upgraded feature based on the Operations mode in Battlefield 1 from 2016. The way the mode works is that a series of operations are carried out across "days", where each day is represented as a round. Whenever a round is completed (no matter who wins) it will change the requirements and goals for the next "day" (or the next round) and players will have to complete those objects and attempt to win.
The trick to Grand Operations is that it adds a somewhat real-time strategy management aspect to the gameplay, as you'll have dwindling resources if you fail to complete the objectives during that day. The next day will see you starting the round with fewer supplies, ammo, and munitions. You'll need to ration your supplies wisely if you hope to achieve victory and win the following days.
According to the post, most Grand Operations featured in Battlefield V will take place across three days and will span up to an hour to complete.
With David Sirland clarifying that the mode will be available at launch and won't be delayed, as previously reported, it means that gamers will be able to jump into the action day and date when Battelfield V drops for home consoles and PC.
