Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Trailer Has First Look At Battle Royale Mode
19 minutes ago
Activision and Treyarch have been coy about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Battle Royale Mode. We were already informed during the initial announcement of the game that it would have a Battle Royale mode, but we had no idea what it would be like or how it would be set up. Activision wisely refrained from throwing everything in the handbasket out into the wild, and opted instead for a more reserved take on promoting the mode and waited, biding the time to strike when the iron is hot. It appears the iron is hot enough and Activision is now striking to get the word out about the Battle Royale Mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The company released a new trailer promoting the multiplayer beta which also included our first look at Blackout.
The trailer went live over on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, featuring nearly two minutes of gameplay footage. The trailer starts with a few quick clips of some of the customizable soldiers you'll be able to access in the game. We see some heavy firepower on display, a bomber swoop in and nuke the playing field, and a squad making their way through the ruined rubble of a war-torn metropolis.
We're then reminded that PlayStation 4 gamers will gain access to the beta for Black Ops 4 ahead of everyone else, and that will begin on August 3rd. So starting this weekend, you'll be able to get in on the multiplayer beta for Black Ops 4 and test out a number of different maps and modes. Starting in September a second beta will take place featuring the first-ever inclusion of the large-scale Battle Royale mode in a Call of Duty game, effectively putting it in competition against PUBG Corporation's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Epic Games' Fortnite.
But that's not all. In the trailer we then get a look at a frenzied collage of various cuts and clips from the multiplayer modes across a variety of stages where we see players hopping over balconies to gun down opponents in the back, utilize robotic drones to take out unsuspecting foes, and use gadgets such as smoke bombs to choke out enemies and get the drop on them.
Keep in mind that all of this takes place within the first 30 seconds of the trailer. We then see that there will be 10 different specialists available for players to take control of, and six multiplayer maps featured in the beta. There will also be six different game modes that you'll be able to play, and a lot of new weapons and scorestreaks as well.
The end of the trailer gives gamers a short clip of the Blackout mode, which is Call of Duty's take on the Battle Royale genre. We see a group of players inside of a helicopter flying around while a guy with a sniper rifle takes out one of the gunners.
The helicopter attempts to encircle some other players driving along the dirt road in quad bikes, but the passenger on the back of the quad is armed with a rocket launcher and uses it to take out the helicopter.
It looks like all of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be frenetic and fast-paced. You can look for the first beta to go live later this week and the second beta to commence in September.
