Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4's NukeTown Map Looks Better Than Ever
20 minutes ago
We knew that PlayStation 4 gamers would receive NukeTown ahead of PC and Xbox One gamers (but thankfully the delay is only by a week, so there's no need to fret), but what we didn't know was exactly how the new iteration of the map would look in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Well, now we know and it looks better than ever.
The minute and a half long trailer starts with a bunch of clips centering around the NukeTown map, but this time it has Russian commentary. We learn that the the whole Russian theme that Treyarch teased in the tweet that announced the map actually plays into the map itself, which is set during the Cold War.
We see that the entire thing is completely overhauled with a brand new set of buildings to accommodate both long-range and close-quarters combat.
For instance, instead of it being houses setup within a cul-de-sac where there are a few suburban houses designed around the 1950s American neighborhoods, the new version of NukeTown sports Russian-themed civilian quarters along with a missile command control center complete with maps, data centers, and electronic modules to operate the whole thing.
The map is still setup like a cul-de-sac, complete with a bus in the center of the outdoor area of the map. Only this time it's all in Russian. Also the road leading into the test site is blocked off via a gated entryway, which gives you access to the small but high-impact map.
The end of the trailer also reveals something special: the ability to launch a nuke from the center of the map.
We don't get to see if NukeTown in Black Ops 4 will allow players to completely blow the whole area sky high, which would fit in quite well with the Battle Royale mode known as Blackout, but the trailer definitely hints at the possibility.
Also, the dolphin diving has been replaced with open windows that allow players to grapple up and utilize the game's verticality to get the jump on opponents.
The upside here is that the NukeTown map update is free and it goes live on November 13th first for PlayStation 4 gamers. So you don't have to pay for a season pass, you don't have to pay extra to access the map, and you don't have to buy any bundle packs to play on the new and improved map.
After a week of being on the PlayStation 4 you'll be able to get your hands on the map on the Xbox One and on the Battle.net service on PC. Sorry, no Steam version this time around.
The map will go live starting tomorrow on November 13th, so be sure to have your client ready, your systems turned on, and your bandwidth free for when Black Ops 4 receives the new version of NukeTown. If you don't have the game you can get a physical or digital copy from over on the Call of Duty store page.
