Catch this streaming marathon if you can: Twitch to feature hundreds of Pokémon episodes and movies

Twitch and The Pokémon Co. are teaming to help fans catch hundreds of episodes of the animated TV series while at the same time allowing fans to capture elusive Pokémon badges.

Amazon-owned Twitch, the game-streaming service with millions of daily active users, announced Thursday that it will stream a “Pokemon: The Series” extravaganza starting Monday and running into 2019. Calling it the “single longest programmatic viewing event to stream on Twitch,” 16 movies and 19 television seasons spanning 932 episodes will be streamed as part of several different marathons.

The event begins with the first season, “Pokémon: Indigo League,” at 10 a.m. on Monday for Twitch audiences in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America and Australia. All content will be viewable on the TwitchPresents channel.

It all comes with a Twitch twist, too, as viewers will be able to collect Pokémon badges using an interactive overlay as part of the company’s Extensions feature. Using the “Twitch Presents: Pokémon Badge Collector,” viewers can grab badges that appear on-screen to earn points and take their place on a leaderboard.

“The Twitch community has a passion for Pokémon based on the warm embrace the series received when we celebrated the brand’s 20th anniversary, as well as the cultural milestone that was set when over 100,000 Twitch members played Pokémon together,” Jane Weedon, director of business development at Twitch, said in a news release.
