Blizzard Entertainment teased Nintendo fans with a release of Diablo as far back as the first quarter of 2018. The company rolled out a tweet featuring a Diablo-themed light switch that would be flicked on and off. Most people instantly knew exactly what was intended with the gif image given that it was inferring Diablo on the Switch. Of course, no news or info came out after that little tease until a news leak took place and everyone scrambled over each other to learn more. Well, now that Blizzard has officially unveiled Diablo III for the Nintendo Switch, we've now learned that the game will come with specially designed items made exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, including items from The Legend of Zelda.

Gamespot is reporting that there will be crossover items from Nintendo's fantasy-adventure game, including a Cucco pet, a Triforce portrait, and wings that are inspired by Majora's Mask from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Additionally, there will be a customizable gear transmog for Ganondorf's armor, so you can go around killing demons and defeating evil playing as one of the most evil characters in all of gaming. Heck, Calamity Ganon actually managed to destroy all of Hyrule and even killed off all of the hero guardians in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Diablo III will be the first Blizzard game on a Nintendo device since StarCraft 64 came out back in 2000. Previous to that, the last games from Blizzard on a Nintendo platform were The Lost Vikings and Blackthorne.

With Diablo III set to release on the Switch later this year, a lot of gamers are expecting big things from Blizzard and Nintendo collaborating together once again. Many have been asking for a port of Overwatch or possibly Hearthstone, and Blizzard hasn't completely ruled out those options just yet for Nintendo's hybrid device.

In the interim, Diablo III will offer gamers on the Switch some exclusive gaming options that you won't find on the PC version. While it will come with previously released expansion packs, such as the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer, it will also come with the ability to play offline. Some of you may remember that Diablo III on PC contained always-on DRM, as part of a security measure for the RMAH, which is no longer in operation.

For Switch owners, not only will be able to play offline, but there's also local four-player cooperative play on a single Switch console. You'll be able to mix and match control options, including using each Joy-Con separately per player, as well as pairing up Switch Pro controllers or third-party USB controllers. Additionally the Switch version of Diablo III will come with local-area network support for up to four separate Switch devices. And, last but not least, you'll be able to play four-player cooperatively via the paid Nintendo Network online service. All of this, plus the ability to play with exclusive Legend of Zelda gear and items.

You can look for Diablo III to launch later this year for the Switch.
