The GameCube title has been a part of the event for over 10 years, but won't be making an appearance at EVO 2019 when it kicks off in Las Vegas this August 2 - 4.
The longtime tournament favourite (which outlasted both Brawl and the 3DS/Wii U sequel) has been replaced by the most recent Smash Bros. game, Ultimate.
Melee got a send-off in the form of a thank you video during the reveal livestream yesterday, suggesting that we may not see the brawler show up in the competition again.
