Fallout 76: Where to Find Power Armor
Last Edited: October 24, 2018 at 12:03 AM
One of the biggest early goals you can have in Fallout 76 is finding you own fancy suit of Power Armor. But in a online experience with multiple players, how do you make sure you get yours?
In Fallout 76, you can find Power Armor Frames abandoned in various places in the world - from locked up sheds to military installations and the darkened interiors of forgotten factories. You can often find them sitting next to Power Armor Stations, just waiting to be claimed.
It's important to note two things: The person who claims the armor first gets to keep it. After you enter the frame, nobody else can steal it from you, even if you leave the suit of armor - it will belong to you, and even teleport back into your inventory if you leave it alone for a few minutes.
If you're trying to find a Power Armor Frame at a low level, you may find you are unable to enter due to the level restrictions of the armor attached to the frame. Circumvent this by manually transferring the armor plates into your inventory, leaving just the frame and the Fusion Core that powers it, and you'll be able to fully interact.
Remember - Fusion Cores are important. They power the suit, allowing you to run, use VATS and make full use of its abilities. Without power, you'll be forced to a crawl, and will likely have to stow the frame in your inventory until you find more power - which you can either craft, or even find in forgotten Fusion Core Generators found at larger buildings.
Finding Power Armor in Appalachia
[edit]
There are many places that Power Armor Frames can spawn in the world, and it's possible that another player might get to it first, or it may just not have spawned into the world just yet, so if you come to an area and don't find anything, you might find it later on.
See below for locations we have confirmed finding Power Armor on multiple occasions:
Aaronholdt Homestead
[edit]
This place is a Location in the far Northwest of Appalachia near the border between The Forest and the Toxic Valley.
The location is comprised of a few farm houses and garages, as well as a large field on the east side with a granary silo and shed.
Upon inspecting the shed by the road, you may be able to see a Power Armor Frame inside the shed next to the Power Armor Station. However, the door to the shed is locked, and you can either equip a Perk Card for lockpicking - or find the key that opens it.
One of the Aaronholdt family holds the key, and his body is actually nearby. Cross the farm field to the sloping hills on the north side, and you should see an open awning that may be surrounded by Bee Swarms and a hive. Below the awning is a bathtub, where lies the body of one of the Aaronholdt family, holding his favorite guitar - an more importantly - the key to the shed.
Grab the key and fight off the Bee Swarms, then return to unlock the shed and claim your prize!

Kanawha Nuka-Cola Plant[edit]
Players have reported finding a Power Armor Frame within the Kanawha Nuka-Cola Plant, which is located along the rivers in the Southwest edge of The Forest, to the west of the Poseidon Energy Plant WV-06.
The suit itself is located within the confines of the plant's interior, and players may have to lockpick the doors leading into the plant or find a key - more information will be available as we confirm
