Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director Thinks Game Was Announced Too Early
“I am well aware of the fact that we announced it too early."
Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura has admitted the game was unveiled too early.
Speaking to Italian website Multiplayer (via Kingdom Hearts Insider), Nomura expressed that he knows the project may have been announced prematurely. However, Square Enix wanted to get ahead of possible leaks by revealing the remake way ahead of time.
"I am well aware of the fact that we announced it too early, but even in the industry, word was beginning to spread that we were working on the game, so we just decided not to keep it more secret and officially reveal it," Nomura said.
Nomura told IGN at E3 2018 Final Fantasy 7 Remake has moved past the conceptual stage and into full development. However, the game was a no-show at this year's event.
According to a few job listings, Square Enix is aiming for "a title that surpasses the original" with the remake.
