Challenge the Horde mode, new enemy types, and more are also coming soon.

Fortnite’s Save the World State of Development – June 2018 blog has announced that the first act of the Canny Valley campaign, and a new desert biome, are arriving shortly after the launch of v5.0 in July.

Canny Valley will take players through a desert terrain and will “answer many questions – was Dr. Vinderman a hero or a villain? What happened to him? Who is “the real Ray”, and where is she? What really is the Storm, and why did it happen? You’ll also see Lars and his band, “Steel Wool”, Dennis, Penny and all the other characters you love, along with iconic locations and enemies.”

In addition to the first act of the campaign, v5.0 will bring back a reworked “Challenge the Horde” mode with updated difficulty progression, combat, rewards, and the introduction of Mini-Bosses.

This mode is focused on getting players into the action quickly and dropping them into a map with a pre-built base. There will be a short time to craft weapons, build additional structures, and lay traps, but waves of enemies will arrive shortly after the game begins.

Challenge the Horde will be the “primary source of event tickets” for v5.0, according to the development team.

There will be other quality-of-life improvements headed to Save the World in the near future, including notifications if a player you reported has had action taken against them, the Builder Pro control scheme, and mode-specific keybindings.

Players will also be able to spend Flux and Training Manuals to obtain a particular Constructor, weapon schematic, and/or trap schematic.

Lastly, the Save the World mode will be invaded by “at least two brand-new enemy types in the next few months.” A more powerful version of the Shielder and his “new friend the Zapper,” will arrive before then.

Owners of Fortnite on Nintendo Switch are still unable to Cross-Play with PlayStation 4 or sign in to their Epic Accounts if they have been linked to a PS4, and a former head of Sony Online Entertainment says it's all about "Money." Nintendo and Microsoft, on the other hand, are celebrating the fact that their two consoles can play together.
