Season 8 brings another big shakeup in the world of Fortnite with new volcanic and jungle locations, a cannonball weapon, and the ability to allow friends to help complete your challenges.

A volcano has emerged from depths of the map, creating a jungle and lagoon in the surrounding areas. In exchange for saying goodbye to Wailing Woods, Lazy Links, and Tomato Temple, two new locations have appeared on the map. Lazy Lagoon and Sunny Steps can be found in the northeastern portion of the map.

A new Pirate Cannonball can be found in different places on the map. Players can position the cannon, aim, and fire a ball to deal 100 damage on a direct hit and 50 damage for anything caught in the radius. You can even throw yourself into the cannon to launch yourself wherever you'd like to go.

Lava can be interacted with but it's not something to seek out. Players lose 1 health per touch and interacting with it will cause you to bounce.

Seven skins from the Season 8 Battle Pass.

Before a match begins, a new option will be available to allow friends in your party to help complete your daily and weekly challenges. You can only pick one challenge at a time.

As with recent season launches, a number of weapons have been removed. This time the Sneaky Snowman and Chiller Grenades got the boot. You'll also see fewer vehicle varieties as the X-4 Stormwing plane, Shopping Cart, and ATK have been vaulted as well.

You can check out the full 8.00 patch notes here. Once your game has been updated, be sure to check our Week 1 Challenges guide page once the challenges go live.
