Fortnite's Rifts Are Getting Bigger

What does it mean?

Fortnite's rocket launch on Saturday left more questions than it answered, and now there's a new one: Why are the rifts getting bigger?

Early this morning, Reddit user Discount_Pringles posted screenshots showing that the rift that was torn in the sky by Fortnite's in-game rocket launch event is growing. It's not alone in that, either.

While the large rift at the rocket's point of impact in the sky is certainly the most noticeable world change from Saturday's event, smaller rifts also showed up around the Fortnite map following the launch. USGamer has been keeping an eye on one of those rifts in the Lonely Lodge section of Fortnite's map, and it too has been expanding.

Epic Games spent more than two weeks teasing Fortnite players that something — most likely something involving the rocket — was going to happen Saturday. No one's quite sure what the rocket's launch and the rifts it left behind mean, but it's largely believed to be related to something coming in Season 5, which begins July 12.
