Life Is Strange 2’s First Trailer Finally Reveals The New Characters
19 minutes ago
Life is Strange fans have been waiting for news on the next entry in the series and today, we finally got a peek at what the upcoming title will have to offer, including who you'll actually play as. And it may not be who you expect. While the prequel to Life is Strange 2, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, had you take on the role of a boy named Chris, Life is Strange 2 is actually focused on a pair of brothers only briefly glimpsed in that game. Meet Sean and Daniel Diaz
The majority of the trailer, which gives us a look at what might be only the first episode, or might be the majority of the game, sees two brothers on their own hiking through the wilderness. Near the end of the trailer, we see why, as Sean was involved in an altercation with police that led to what appears to be the use of telekinetic powers which appear to have turned a bad situation worse. Sean took his brother and ran, and now the older brother, who appears to be the player character, must decide what to do next.
The fact you don't play Life is Strange 2 as the character from the prequel game was something many fans surmised, but which was far from clear until now. At the end of that title, (spoilers) Chris found himself falling from a tree, only to find himself lightly floating in the air. It was clear that somebody had used some sort of superpower to save Chris from injury but it wasn't clear if that was done by Chris himself or one of the two boys next door, who now have names.
However, with the exception of the one ability we see, Life is Strange 2 looks to be just as grounded as the first game, with the majority of the drama being focused around real people dealing with real problems. Here, we see the two boys trying to make it on their own without any real idea how to do that. In this case not only is Sean trying to save himself, but he has a nine-year-old little brother who is going to rely on him for his safety and security. It brings back memories of the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead, and when players first met Clementine. If Life is Strange fans bond with Daniel as much as they did with her, we could be in for a very emotional five episode journey.
The first episode of Life is Strange 2 is set for release September 27. Before that, the team behind the new game will have a panel at Pax West 2018, where there's a good chance a few additional details will be revealed.
