New Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Trailer Will Get You Pumped Up For Launch

With less than a month to go for release, Activision is in full blown hype mode for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The game had an open beta alongside EA and DICE's Battlefield V, but opposite of its World War II counterpart, there was almost universal praise for Black Ops 4 and how well it handled during the beta, especially the highly anticipated Battle Royale mode known as Blackout. For everyone who missed out on the beta (or everyone still looking for more intensity after having come out of the beta) Activision released the official launch trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which attempts to recapture all of the high-octane action within the span of just a minute.

The trailer starts with a brief clip from the Zombies mode, and then transitions into an explosive hallway shootout, followed by a few snippets of the Blackout mode where we see multiple players running through the open plains while others give chase on an ATV. There's also a couple of clips of various characters showcasing and reloading their customized weapons, flying helicopters through the thicket of projectile fire, stabbing zombies in the head after leaping 15 feet into the air, and tigers mauling victims in the Coliseum. All of that takes place within the first 30 seconds of the trailer.

The rest of the trailer basically features more shooting, explosions and a quick rundown of the fact that the game is multiplayer-only. Yes, if you didn't already know, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 only has multiplayer modes.

Activision and Treyarch decided to do away with a single-player campaign mode and see how far the company could get selling $60 worth of multiplayer-only modes. This includes the standard PvP modes such as team deathmatch and domination, along with the cooperative modes such as Zombies, and the all-new Battle Royale mode in the form of Blackout.

This will be Activision's first big test to see how well the company can fare without the attachment of a blockbuster single-player mode to sell the game. Typically the single-player is there for the people who enjoy playing through the game solo, while also enjoying the over-the-top scripted segments that appeal to those who enjoy Michael Bay films.

Doing away with the single-player is a risky venture, but given that there's only been a lot of praise for what multiplayer options Treyarch has brought to the table, it's entirely possible that the game could make headway on the market based on the multiplayer alone.

Then again, Activision may have decided to forfeit the single-player given that a lot of people will likely be focused on playing through Red Dead Redemption 2, so maybe it was a "why bother?" sort of scenario.

Either way, you'll be able to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, starting October 12th.
