PUBG Brings Back War Mode with New Rules

This time around it'll take place on Sanhok.

As was previously promised, PUBG is bringing back War Mode with a few new twists. A post on PUBG's Steam page yesterday detailed how War Mode's return starts tonight at 7 p.m. PDT and runs through Sunday at 7 p.m. PDT.

In its older iteration, War Mode took place on the Erangel map, but it will now be set on the recently released Sanhok map. The ante has also been upped: instead of three 10-man squads, War Mode will now feature five 10-man squads. War Mode matches are still set to take place in a small "safe zone" where the first team to 200 points wins.

However, new "Hunstmen and Marksmen" rules will cause every player to spawn with a shotgun, handgun, frag grenade, and bandages. Players who can stick around long enough won't be stuck with only that loadout, though. Care packages full of DMRs, SRs and "powerful items" will drop in every 10 minutes. In War Mode, vehicles and world loot don't spawn and Redzone, friendly fire, and killer spectating are disabled.

Teams make progress toward the 200-point goal by, naturally, killing other players. Killing a player will earn a squad three points, but a single point is also earned from every knockdown. Killed players aren't gone for good either – they'll respawn every 30 seconds.

It's been an interesting few weeks for PUBG. Players recently discovered an exploitable glitch in the Sanhok map, and PUBG Corp. had to make changes to its new Event Pass following a fan outcry.
