Steam's Summer Sale Is Now On
The temperature is rising, so it's nice of the folks at Valve to roll out their annual Summer Sale to give gamers the world over plenty of reasons to stay inside, draw the curtains to block out that infernal day star and play lots and lots of deeply discounted games. From software to hardware, there's a little something for everyone included in this year's bargain extravaganza.
"The Intergalactic Summer Sale" is now live on Steam, running from June 21 through July 5. That whole "intergalactic" thing is just this year's Summer Sale theme, which has something to do with "Saliens" (get it!) fighting the Duldrumz.
Dress it up all you want, what we're looking at here is hundreds upon hundreds of games receiving some insanely deep discounts, with sale-long offerings joined by limited affairs making the Steam store worth visiting regularly throughout the promotion. Steam's limited hardware department is also seeing some discounts, including a Steam Controller for $33.49, the Steam Link for $2.50, or a bundle of the two together for $34.19.
The big draw for most folks, though, is the games. These have been broken down into various categories including daily highlighted games, additional highlighted games, games that have been played the most with the Steam Controller, virtual reality games and more.
As of this writing, the featured games for the day include Cuphead for %15.99, Prey for $14.99, The Division for $9.99, and discounts on the entire Resident Evil and Just Cause franchises, just to name a few.
Additional discounts include the fantastic cooperative game, Overcooked, for $5.77, the beloved Undertale for $4.99, the hauntingly beautiful Gorogoa for $8.99 and, for you fighting fans in the audience, Killer Instinct for $9.99.
Today's highlighted Steam Controller games include Alien: Isolation for $9.99 and Super Meat Boy for the ridiculously low $1.49. The virtual reality spotlight is currently pointed at games like Subnautica for $19.99 and Superhot VR for $18.74.
But, again, these are only a fraction of the games being discounted throughout the Steam Summer Sale, so you'll want to start plowing through the list during your spare time if you're looking for something in particular. Just doing a quick perusal, we're seeing The Witcher 3 for $19.99, DOOM for $14.99, Rocket League for $9.99 and Hollow Knight for $9.89. In other words, if you've had your eye on a game but have been holding out for a discount, it looks like chances are pretty good that you'll save some money by shopping in the next couple of weeks.
This is, of course, assuming you haven't been completely turned off by Valve's recently updated policies concerning what games can and cannot be published through Steam. But, hey, we're not here to tell you how or where to spend your money.
Also, if you notice any "must have" discounts, feel free to share them in the comments below.
