Telltale is preparing to wrap up The Walking Dead narrative adventure series on home consoles and PC. The upcoming The Walking Dead: The Final Season will finally bring a close to the journey that started way back in 2012 with escaped convict Lee Everett. It seems crazy to think that the journey took place over the course of six years. For gamers who didn't necessarily keep up to date with all of the changes, characters, and plot points, Telltale decided to make it easy to dive into the final season of the game by creating the Telltale Story Builder, which will allow you to build out the story up to the point where The Walking Dead: The Final Season begins.

According to the press release, gamers can hop into the browser-based experience, The Telltale Story Builder and play through a short narrative recap that allows you to make significant decisions that will impact the start and story of The Walking Dead: The Final Season, ahead of the launch of the first episode set to take place on August 14th. You can access the builder over on the official Telltale website.

The interactive narrative builder allows you to relive the most significant moments of Telltale's iteration of The Walking Dead and make significant decisions and choices that will impact the lives of characters like Clementine and AJ.

In order to make use of the builder, you will need to register and log into your Telltale Games account on the website. From there, you'll need to build out the story and then save the progress to your Telltale Games account. When The Walking Dead: The Final Season launches, you'll simply need to import the save data from your Telltale account.

Alternatively, if you've been playing each of the games over the last six years and have a saved game from your playthrough, it's possible to import your game from the last outing, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. There's actually a process in being able to move your saved game over, and Telltale has been facilitating every means possible in order to give gamers options in importing their old saved game files from the previous entries.

Telltale did a similar thing when helping PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers import their saved games from the old consoles into the Xbox One and PS4.

What's also pretty cool is that Telltale has developed 32 different posters that represent the different story outcomes that you can generate from the Telltale Story Builder. This will give gamers a distinctive visual look for their particular story outcome and the choices they made throughout the browser-based event.

It's definitely a more interactive and dynamic way to flesh out the start of the episode than just clicking through a few screens, which is typically how it's setup for other Telltale games like Batman: The Enemy Within or Minecraft: Story Mode.

You can look for The Walking Dead: The Final Season to launch for home consoles and PC starting August 14th.
