When Nuketown Comes To Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4

One of the most popular maps in the entirety of the Call of Duty franchise is Nuketown. That map originally made its debut eight years ago in Treyarch's original Black Ops for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and eventually found its way into Call of Duty Online. Well, now it's coming back for Black Ops 4, as some sort of unsung tradition.

For everyone who was wondering when the map would be making a return to Call of Duty, the official Call of Duty Twitter account revealed that gamers can look for it to arrive first on the PlayStation 4 in just a few days on November 13th.

As you can see in the tweet above, the announcement was accompanied by a short five-second teaser trailer, which showcases a few off-color images of what looks like some testing going on. The teaser ends with a look at the town sign for the nuke test site, Nuketown.

A lot of people were excited about the announcement because many gamers can't wait to get back into Nuketown and start blasting each other to bits.

There's also -- as indicated by the tweet -- some sort of Russian element to this iteration of Nuketown, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

And even though PlayStation 4 gamers will get their hands on the content first, Xbox One owners will be able to get their hands on it just a week later. That's a heck of lot better than having to wait a month for the content to arrive, which was the case with the Infinite Warfare content.

The Nuketown release was preceded by an update that just rolled out heading into the weekend. Treyarch detailed the update over on the Black Ops 4 sub-reddit, where it was revealed that from November 9th up until November 12th there would be a double XP bonus for gamers to indulge in.

So once you get done leveling up with the double XP, you'll then be able to dive into the Nuketown map on November 13th.

There will also be double tier boosts in multiplayer PvP and the Battle Royale Blackout mode up until Monday. So it appears Treyarch wanted to get gamers all nice and hooked into Black Ops 4 and have them rekindle and polish their skills before getting ready to head back into the eight-year-old Nuketown map.

The developers also took some time to balance a few of the weapons -- giving SMGs the ability to one-hit kill opponents during close-range combat when playing on Hardcore mode, and reducing the armor protection so that you'll get two-hit kills in Hardcore, and enabling the ability to play with up to two Specialists per team.

The update comes shortly after Treyarch removed the 9-Bang grenade in the Blackout mode due to the grenade being over-powered. I'm sure most people won't miss it now that Nuketown is inbound.
