When You Can Play PUBG's Newest Map
PUBG Corporation has been teasing a brand new map for the highly popular 100-player Battle Royale third-person shooter, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The game has kind of slowed down in outputting content on a regular basis but that hasn't stopped the developers from producing new content regularly, and gamers just recently found out exactly when they can get their first glimpse of the newest map for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
The developers put out a tweet for the upcoming June 22nd patch #15 for the PC version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and it was followed up with a post over on the Steam community thread, where PUBG Corporation detailed what gamers can expect from the smaller map with bigger action called "Sanhok."
The tweet starts off with a 30 second clip of the new Sanghok map, which is a tropical island paradise, featuring several small towns for players to battle over and battle in. The clip reminds viewers that the map is smaller than the other two maps featured in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, but it still offers a diversity of gameplay mechanics to keep the action fresh, this includes rivers running through the core areas that allow for boats to whiz and weave in and out of the tight watery corners while someone on the back of the boat can man a turret.
The Southeast-Asian themed map features lots of ins and outs for the structures, including temples where players can use the outer areas to get the drop on opponents, or once again use the boats to clip off those running along the edge of the temple of pathways facing the rivers.
There's also a number of vertical layers to the map, which separates it a good deal from the previous maps. Upper layers allow players to drive vehicles across chasms and gorges, while the lower layers allow players to fight around scaffolding. Below that there are waterways where you can ride boats under the volcanic-like formations around the map.
In the community thread the developers get into the nitty gritty of the map, detailing its 4km x 4km size, as well as the fact that the team has gone above and beyond to increase performance and decrease load for better optimization on the Sanhok map.
The map will also feature dynamic weather changes, completely altering how you engage with other players across clear skies, rainy days, and even heavy fog.
The Sanhok map also has a shorter and smaller redzone, so that it keeps the action moving fast and furious. This will force players across the new locations, including the cave system, the resort, the temple ruins, the quarry, the city, and the docks.
The PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds update will also come with a brand new assault weapon, the QBZ, which looks a lot like the FAMAS.
The June 22nd update is accompanied by a special 33% off discount, which is going on right now, and gets you the game for $19.99. This works as a lure to get more people interested in the Battle Royale title.
